Volunteer on the road with Habitat for Humanity

If you love life on the open road, the RV Care-A-Vanner program is the perfect way to combine travel with purpose. This unique volunteer opportunity invites anyone traveling by recreational vehicle to make Habitat for Humanity part of your journey — or even your destination.

About the RV Care-A-Vanner program

Join RVers from across North America in helping build safe, affordable homes with local Habitat affiliates. In just two weeks, RV Care-A-Vanners bring skills, energy, and enthusiasm that can significantly accelerate a building project and raise community awareness of Habitat’s mission.

Why join?
  • Make a lasting impact by helping families achieve their dream of homeownership.
  • Work side by side with homeowners as they build a place to call home.
  • Meet other RV volunteers who share the vision of a world where everyone has a decent, affordable place to live.
  • No prior construction experience is needed — all RVers are welcome!

Before volunteering, please review our Volunteer Code of Conduct (PDF) for program expectations.

More ways to get involved with the RV Care-A-Vanner program

The RV Care-A-Vanner program offers more than just construction builds. Volunteers can use their unique skills and passions in a variety of ways to support Habitat for Humanity’s mission of affordable housing.

Disaster Rebuild Team: Help communities recover and rebuild after natural disasters by providing hands-on assistance and hope in times of crisis.

Collegiate Challenge Mentor: Partner with college students during their alternative school breaks, guiding and inspiring the next generation of Habitat volunteers.

Skilled Volunteer Roles: Lend your expertise by serving on the RV Care-A-Vanner desk staff, assisting with program management and operations.

Advocacy & outreach: RV Care-A-Vanners also play a vital role as Habitat advocates. Many volunteers speak to churches, civic organizations, and the media about the urgent need for safe, affordable housing and the impact of Habitat’s work.

By building, mentoring, managing, or advocating, RV Care-A-Vanners help expand Habitat for Humanity’s reach and deepen its impact nationwide.
