Habitat for Humanity does not give away houses; instead, future homeowners build alongside us and volunteers to build or rehabilitate a home in a place they love to live. Habitat for Humanity increases access to affordable homes and affordable credit, especially among people locked out of the housing market.
We follow a nondiscriminatory policy of homebuyer selection and are accountable to mortgage lending laws. Habitat follows a nondiscriminatory policy in line with the Fair Housing Act and Equal Credit Opportunity Act. Race, sex, color, national origin, religion, familial status, age, marital status, disability and income from public assistance are not a factor in choosing homeowners.
A decent home gives us the space and stability we need to be healthy, resilient and build the life we choose — whether that’s creating community, building wealth or raising a family.
