Habitat for Humanity of East and Central Pasco County builds and renovates safe, quality, affordable homes for qualified homebuyers throughout our service area. Our homes are designed with long-term affordability, durability, and energy efficiency in mind, helping individuals and families achieve stable homeownership and build a stronger financial future.
We primarily build new homes and, when opportunities are available, renovate existing homes in communities across east and central Pasco County.
Habitat homes are not given away. Qualified homebuyers purchase their homes and make monthly mortgage payments. Habitat works with each homebuyer to make the purchase affordable, creating a path to homeownership for people who may not otherwise be able to purchase a home through the traditional housing market.

What types of homes does Habitat for Humanity build?
Habitat for Humanity of East and Central Pasco County primarily builds new single-family homes designed to meet the needs of our homebuyers. We also occasionally renovate vacant or distressed homes, helping restore existing properties and strengthen local neighborhoods.

Home designs
We’ve built homes ranging from 2 to 6 bedrooms, with 1 or 2 bathrooms, depending on household size, available land, and the home design. Our most common floor plan is a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home with approximately 1,125 square feet of living space.
Home designs vary by location and project, and accessible features may be incorporated when needed.
Quality homes built for Florida families
Habitat homes are designed and built with quality, durability, and long-term affordability in mind. When possible, we incorporate features and building practices that improve energy and water efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, and help our homes stand up to Florida’s climate. Some features and certifications may vary by home, location, and project.
Florida Water Star® Certified
When possible, we work to build homes that meet Florida Water Star® standards, incorporating water-efficient features that help conserve water and reduce utility costs.
Florida-Friendly Landscaping™
We strive to use Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ principles when possible, helping conserve water, reduce maintenance, and create attractive outdoor spaces suited to Florida’s climate.
FORTIFIED® construction standards
When possible, we incorporate FORTIFIED® construction standards designed to improve durability and resilience and help protect homes from severe weather.
ENERGY STAR® appliances
Every Habitat home includes Whirlpool® ENERGY STAR® appliances, helping reduce energy use and monthly utility costs.
2-10 Home Buyers Warranty
Every Habitat home includes a 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty, providing coverage for designated workmanship, systems, and structural components for added peace of mind.
Where does Habitat build in Pasco County?
Habitat homes are built throughout our service area, which includes Pasco County east of the Suncoast Parkway.
We build where land is affordable, infrastructure is available, and where we can make the greatest impact. During the application process, homebuyers may indicate their location preferences, and once sweat equity requirements are met, we work with each family to review available home sites.
What does a Habitat home cost?
The cost of a Habitat home varies based on factors such as the home, location, financing, and household circumstances. To help make homeownership affordable for a qualified buyer, Habitat may subsidize a portion of the purchase price or provide other assistance that reduces the amount the homebuyer must finance.
Your monthly mortgage payment, property taxes, and homeowners insurance combined are set at no more than 30% of your gross monthly income.
Habitat also typically pays the homebuyer's closing costs, helping reduce the upfront cost of purchasing a home.
During the homeownership process, applicants receive information about the purchase price, mortgage financing, estimated monthly payment, property taxes, homeowners insurance, closing costs, and other costs associated with owning a home.
Are Habitat for Humanity homes free?
No. Habitat homes are not free. Qualified homebuyers purchase their homes and make affordable monthly mortgage payments. Habitat may use subsidies and other assistance to help make the purchase affordable, and homebuyers also invest time in the Habitat program through education and sweat equity.
