What we do

How we build together

Habitat for Humanity is a movement of people in Pasco County and around the Tampa Bay region, working together to build more prosperous and vibrant communities by making sure everyone has a safe, affordable place to call home.

Our volunteers build homes alongside the people who will live in them; we advocate for policies and research new ways of working that make funding and building affordable homes easier.

Home Construction

We create access to homeownership through new construction. Habitat for Humanity builds decent and affordable homes in partnership with families. Habitat homebuyers help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Our homes are built energy efficient, assessable, Water Star certified, and with Fortified Standards as our guide. Homes include Florida friendly landscaping and a homeowner's warranty.

Roof Replacement

Habitat for Humanity of East and Central Pasco County is currently seeking local veterans who are in need of urgent roof repairs. If you or someone you know is a U.S. military veteran who owns their home and could benefit from this life-changing housing assistance program, we want to hear from you.

Disaster Response

Every year, natural disasters such as flooding and hurricanes affect thousands of people around Pasco County.

Through Habitat for Humanity of East and Central Pasco County’s ReBuild program, and with the help of volunteers and donors like you, we are able to provide shelter assistance, repair, roof replacement, grants and partnerships to the affected individuals who find themselves in unthinkable situations.

When a disaster strikes, the loss of a home can leave you at your most vulnerable. Habitat works to rebuild communities in these circumstances, moving them from ruin to recovery.

Financial Education

At Habitat for Humanity of East and Central Pasco County, we believe that financial education is critical to successful long-term homeownership and to building intergenerational wealth and improving health and education outcomes for families.

That’s why Habitat prioritizes helping families learn how to budget and save, preparing them to manage an affordable mortgage as homeowners.

Advocacy

Habitat for Humanity of East and Central Pasco Coutny supports policies that improve a variety of housing issues in Pasco County, around the state of Florida and U.S., as well as those that empower nonprofits like Habitat to pursue their mission.

Let’s make housing in the U.S. more affordable and accessible for all. Join us through Habitat Voices in Action as we work together for affordable homeownership.

Owning a home is the key to building stability and wealth. Yet, with skyrocketing home prices, millions of Americans are locked out of the dream of homeownership.

With hundreds of policy successes, we know how to impact affordable housing at the local, state and federal levels. Habitat uses our expert resources, research and proven practices to call on policymakers and advocate for home affordability.

But we can’t do it without you. Join us to help ensure everyone has a chance to own a safe, affordable home. Every voice matters – especially yours.

We advocate to:

  • Increase the supply of homes for low- and moderate-income homebuyers.
  • Expand access to homeownership for people of all backgrounds.
  • Keep homes affordable and livable long term, ensuring homeowner resilience.

Habitat also supports policies that improve a variety of housing issues in the U.S. and around the world, as well as those that empower nonprofits like Habitat to pursue their mission.

Increasing the supply of homes for low- and moderate-income homebuyers

There is not enough housing supply for low- and moderate-income homebuyers. To expand homeownership opportunities for households of all backgrounds, we advocate for policies that increase affordable homes.

How? We advocate for policymakers to act, including:

  • Funding building and preservation of affordable homes.
  • Selling public land to affordable home builders.
  • Easing zoning restrictions for developments with affordable homes.
