150th home dedication

Through shelter, we empower: Habitat for Humanity ECP celebrates 150 families achieving strength, stability and self-reliance.

DADE CITY (Dec. 19, 2019)— Thanks to generous donors and thousands of volunteers, Habitat for Humanity ECP helped 150 families in Pasco County build an affordable place they can call home. With a “hand up” from Habitat, families have acquired the skills, confidence and opportunity they need to build healthier, more financially stable lives.

This is true for people like Carla Gude, the latest Habitat homeowner in Dade City who expressed, “When Dwayne and I got married 7 years ago, he promised me that he would provide a home for us. Our dream came true when we applied for a Habitat home and were approved. We now know that dreams really do come true!”

“For 25 years we have been partnering with families and individuals in Pasco County to help improve their housing conditions. We have seen first-hand how access to an affordable mortgage can help homeowners save more, focus more intently on education and feel more financially secure,” said Crystal Lazar, President & CEO of Habitat for Humanity of East & Central Pasco County. “Through the hard work of our volunteers, donors, corporate partners and, most importantly, our Habitat homeowners, we have helped more than 150 home buyers become empowered to build better lives for themselves and their families.”

In calendar year 2019, Habitat partnered with 7 families in Dade City through new home construction and access to affordable housing as a result of a Habitat program.

The 150th home dedication will be held on December 19th at 10:00 AM at 37409 Davis Ave in Dade City, FL.

About Habitat for Humanity

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in more than 1,300 communities throughout the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.  Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves.
