“Habitat gives a solid foundation for families by creating affordable quality houses, that’s known and obvious. But there is another way in which Habitat gives that is sort of hidden; Habitat gives retired people an opportunity to contribute to society by using their time and labor to build these houses. So many people retire and then ask, “What will I do now?” As a Volunteer and a Care a Vanner I have found this to be a source of satisfaction, that I can contribute to something that changes communities, lives, and gives a sense of satisfaction that I am not just taking up space on this earth to no purpose. And to give time, talent, and finances to Habitat is a worthwhile use of all three.”
